Everything You Need To Know About size? Newcastle

Last updated:

Size? are one of the latest global brands to touch down in Newcastle city centre and despite the obvious challenges of the past year, these footwear aficionados have cemented themselves as a key figure in Newcastle’s vibrant fashion scene.

NE1 catches up with size? Newcastle manager Ross Moore, as he guides us through city life at 124 Grainger Street...

How has it been settling into the busy streets of NE1?

I feel the store has settled into the area amazingly despite COVID trying its best to derail the fun and opening. We finally managed to open our doors in early December 2020 and managed just over three weeks before the country again went into lockdown between Christmas and New Year.

Myself and my management team worked throughout lockdown 3 to ensure the store was in the best place possible with the best stock ready to open again mid April and our opening day was a huge success as we had built up a lot of limited, sought after products during lockdown ready for our opening.

Is there a certain passion for streetwear needed to work in a size? shop?

I can speak for all of us when I say we are passionate about representing size? and passionate about trainers and the city we live in. Now that we've had 11 successful weeks since reopening, the store continues to go from strength to strength and this area of the city is perfect for us to build our strong footing in Newcastle’s vibrant fashion scene. It’s great to be located in a beautiful listed unit in Central Arcade.

There’s a big sense of community surrounding streetwear, is that an important thing to capture in-store?

Even though we are part of an international company, all of our stores try to have an independent community feel. We have built great relationships with local stores such as END., The Hoi Polloi and also numerous, amazing places to eat in and around the Grainger Market and beyond.

Our relationship with the guys at END. I feel is key. We’ve also struck up a warm relationship with the team at Waceland, which all comes together nicely to conjure up that community feel around our little area of the city that’s dedicated to forward-thinking streetwear. The plans for the future will be to expand our reach and continue to build those relationships with our community.
