All You Need To Know About Newcatle’s First Dedicated Board Games Cafe

Last updated:

Here’s everything you need to know about Meeple Perk, Newcastle’s first dedicated board games cafe on Clayton Street…

Meeple Perk is a hive of activity for all things food, drink, board games and banter; and it has one simple mission - to help us switch off from the digital world and enjoy the company of friends in a fun, laid-back environment.

Complete with coffee, snacks and more than 350 board games in the collection, there’s simply no better place to while away the hours in the city centre.

The concept was born from the idea that we’re living in a time where we are becoming more and more attached to our screens. Whether it’s a brunch date, a catch up with friends over coffee, or a family feast, our bets are on at least one person being hooked to a phone, iPad or laptop screen while socialising.

Throw in a board game and a designated slot for interacting and getting the brain working, and you’re all of a sudden you are ‘living in the moment’.

There’s a certain nostalgia to getting around the table and getting lost in a board game, whether it’s the traditional, family-friendly Monopoly, an adventure game for youngsters, or surviving the World Championship Russian Roulette. From short and snappy quizzes, to longer, thought-providing challenges, there’s something for everyone and every occasion.

Feeling thirsty as you play? No bother! Not only is Meeple Perk home to a mega collection of board games, it’s also the place to be when it comes to quality coffee, hot drinks, milkshakes and iced teas. Our favourite is the Dirty Chai Latte - warm milk infused with cardamom and star anise, topped with cinnamon and a shot of espresso for good measure!

Worked up an appetite? Meeple has your back with a delicious selection of breakfasts, snacks and main meals to help keep your brain ticking over. Featuring everything from breakfast butties, toasties and paninis, to burgers, hot dogs and nachos, you’d be a fool to miss out on feasting while you’re gaming! What’s more? The menu boasts plenty of scrummy vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free goodies to ensure nobody misses out!

Board game-lovers looking to get in on the action can also check out Meeple Perk’s memberships. For just £25, you’ll get 50% off game sessions, 5% off food and drink, special event pricing and of course, bragging rights - being a top gamer is an achievement worth sharing!

So, how do we make a date at Meeple Perk?

Head over to the meepleperk.co.uk website and book your two hour games slot for just £3 per person, where you can catch up with friends, challenge them to your favourite board game and enjoy great food!
