Hack Your NE1 Weekend | 5 - 6 January 2019
WHAT A WEEKEND!
If your New Year's resolution was to get out and do more... we've got you covered in NE1 this weekend!
SATURDAY 5 JANUARY
Textiles for tots
Take little ones to Seven Stories’ fun drop-in Story Sewing session. With the help of a local textile artist, they’ll create colourful pictures based on David McKee's first book, Two Can, Toucan, using thread, fabric and bright fabric paint.
Coffee & culture
Get your Saturday off to a relaxing start at Theatre Royal’s Inside View Coffee Morning. Chat with fellow theatre-goers over tea and coffee and listen to an exclusive talk from a special guest, who will be sharing their interesting stories and answering questions from the audience.
Bread-making fun
Have a go at making your own bread at Blackfriars’ tasty Bread Making For Beginners workshop. After learning the basics from a master baker, you’ll make up to four different hand-kneaded loaves to take home, and enjoy a three-course lunch with wine.
Lunch spot
Get your tea and sandwich fix as you sit and watch the world go by at Quilliam Brothers. Relax and dig in to hot, freshly-made stotties, filled with pulled pork or honey mustard ham, rarebit on toast or big BLTs!
Ring master
Defiant Wrestling's LOADED is back! Head to O2 Academy to see all of your favourite wrestlers from the original LOADED series, as well as many new faces stepping into the ring for the very first time.
Top tunes
See guitar star, Tom C. Walker, take to the stage at The Cluny. A class act, known and loved for his impressive finger work and smooth vocals, seeing him live is an experience not to be missed!
G&T time!
Cheers to the weekend at Pleased To Meet You. Sip on the finest gin-infused cocktails, or pick your favourite gin and pair it with whatever tonic and however many garnishes your heart desires!
SUNDAY 6 JANUARY
Brunch it up
Make the Alchemist your Sunday brekkie stop. Treat yourself to American-style waffles with bacon, maple syrup and butter, indulge in full English fry-ups or surrender to dippy eggs and soldiers.
Street food fun
Swap your Sunday roast for sensational street food at By The River Brew Co. Its foodie market is packed full of local street food names, serving up everything from New York-style pizza slices, to curry, vegan bites, burgers and tacos. Yum!

Wrap up warm and get your skates on at Centre For Life’s outdoor ice rink - the perfect place for a spot of wintry fun with friends and family!
Sunday scran
Visit the new-look Union Rooms this weekend for a Sunday lunch worth shouting about! Go to this stylish spot on Westgate Road for Hadrian’s Heritage beef, slow-roasted pork shoulder or confit leg of lamb. Can’t decide on your meat? Try the trio of meats for a mouthwatering feast!
Pan-Asian perfection!
Go on a culinary journey and immerse yourself in delicious Pan-Asian flavours at one of the city's newest restaurants, Umai Mi. This oriental kitchen is the place to be for both Far Eastern inspiration and Western tastes.
