Best Breakfasts in NE1

Last updated:

It’s National Breakfast Week this week, and we thought we would celebrate the most important meal of the day with a roundup of where you can fill your boots with breakfast treats in NE1. We can't think of a better way to kick-start your day with a spot of brekkie at one of our favourite breakfast spots.

If you're going nuts for Nutella pancakes or you're crackers about a fry up fix, but you find yourself in a bit of a scramble about where to find your eggs on a morning - we've done the hard work for you and picked out some of our favourite spots in NE1 for breakfast...

CHIQUITO

Spice up your breakfast routine with Mexican infused feast. Go for eggs bravos (£5.45) for a truly authentic feast. A delightful mix of sautéed potatoes tossed with home-made salsa, topped with refried beans, guacamole and two poached eggs with a sprig of fresh coriander sitting on top. There’s plenty to choose from on a menu that’s just mexcellent.

LES PETITS CHOUX

All the Parisian poshness right in the centre of the Toon, Les Petits Choux specialises in scrumptious pastries which have cheat day brunch written all over them. Bon appétit!

VIOLETS

It’s a bloggers and Instagram lovers galore at Violet’s cafe down on the Quayside. With delicious dishes all sprinkled in bright colourful gorgeousness. Nice on the eyes and even better on the tum!

DALA SWEDISH CAFÉ

You no longer have to brave the meatballs at Ikea to experience Nordic cuisine in the North East. Dala Swedish Café is leading the way with sweet and savoury dishes to make your mouth water.

BROWNS

It's a cracking dining spot from morning through night, but we think they serve up a bloomin good breakfast. Our favourite is the Browns lobster benedict - toasted English muffin, lobster tail, poached free range eggs, buttered spinach and hollandaise sauce. Yum! Sit back with a cuppa and watch the world go by on Grey Street.

LONG PLAY CAFE

Everything about Long Play Cafe is cool and current, but that's not to say it doesn't do a mean traditional breakfast. Catering for veggies too, it's a breakfast lover's dream.

QUAY INGREDIENT

Some of the coolest breakfast stops as down on the Quayside and this one is one to wait for. Often queues out the door for the yummiest breakfast down by the Tyne at the lovely Quay Ingredient. Pass us the menu!

BLAKES

There's a reason this cool cafe is always buzzing - its brunch and its coffees are to die for to say the least. The perfect way to start a day in NE1 this winter!
