Storiella & The Silver Shantymen:

Description

Storiella is a north-east vocal trio with Helen Blades, Gill Hubbold, and Teresa Driscoll. Their material is a selection of folk and contemporary, inspired by artists such as The Wailin’ Jennys, Silly Sisters, the Poozies, singer-songwriter Judie Tzuke, and US‑based alternative rock outfit Sleeping At Last. Although many of Storiella’s songs are unaccompanied, some have added ukulele, glockenspiel, and more! Storiella is an engaging and popular act at local folk sessions.

The Silver Shantymen is a group of vocalists who will entertain you with sea shanties and songs of the sea. You will hear songs from the Napoleonic wars,  American whaling ships, the Hebrides, Polynesia, fur traders on the Missouri, paddle steamers on the Mississippi, and many more; songs of humour, tragedy, pirates, heartbreak and appalling conditions; capstan, long and short haul, halyard, and focs'l shanties, stamp and go. You may hear a couple of songs you learned at school, but they were the sanitised versions! Lots of great choruses for you to join in with if you wish.
