Darren Hayman will be taking to the stage of NE1 on Sunday 8th July 2018 at the Cluny 2.
Hayman is a singer-songwriter and guitarist, best known as the writer, lead singer and guitarist in Hefner. Since Hefner disbanded in 2002, Hayman has embarked on a prolific solo career releasing twelve albums under his own name and appearing on albums by Papernut Cambridge, Rotifer and The Great Electric.
He has regularly worked with The Wave Pictures, producing an album for them, directing three of their music videos and briefly employing them as his backing band.
A thoughtful, concise and detailed songwriter, he eschews the big, the bright and the loud for the small, twisted, and lost. For 15 years, and over 14 albums, Hayman has taken a singular and erratic route through England’s tired and heartbroken underbelly. Hayman was influenced by punk through his art college years, but throughout the ’90s he was inspired by American lo-fi indie-rock.
