Blackflower return after an extended break, with their original line-up and some brand new material. The band has always mixed a wide range of influences, from the indie sounds of the late 80’s and early 90’s, through Soul, Amerciana and folk influences, to create a melodic, warm and uplifting sound, combined with bittersweet lyrical themes.
Their new material ranges from Krautrock-inspired nine minute looped whiteouts to metaphysical space pop, via a dose of soulful Americana. How about the Velvet Underground trying their hand at a Bond theme as a comparison for one new song?
The band developed a strong live reputation in the previous decade, playing with a host of local, national and international acts in the process, but since their 10th Anniversary gig, also at the Cluny 2, in 2010, they have remained relatively low key, only venturing out for the odd rare live appearance.
