The Economy of Ecology: Alphabetti Theatre

This Event has passed

Manic Chord Theatre present The Economy of Ecology between Tuesday 16th and Thursday 18th October 2018 at the Alphabetti Theatre in Newcastle.

Blending stunning visuals and imaginative storytelling, this is an urgent and provocative story about human relationships, communications and our impact on the natural world.

Travelling on a crowded plane, Steve feels dislocated and alone. In a world of touch screens and social robots, he has lost the ability to make meaningful bonds with other people. Steve makes a decision that will eventually force him to face his own inability to make a connection. He talks to the nervous passenger sitting next to him.

In a forest thousands of miles away a sapling pokes its head through the leafy forest floor. Beneath the soil its roots begin to scramble for the one thing that guarantees its survival - a connection.

An urgent and provocative story about human relationships, communications and our impact on the natural world, where the often overlooked can sometimes become the simplest of solutions. Blending stunning visuals and imaginative storytelling, this show uncovers the power of human touch and the unexpected links between all things, questioning whether we are a touch deprived culture.
