Common Ground: Alphabetti Theatre

Comon is an arts organisation which exists to support the UK theatre industry in achieving greater socio-economic diversity, and help artists from working-class backgrounds build sustainable careers in theatre.

They are an inaugural Associate Company of English Touring Theatre, collaborating with them to outreach Common’s work across the UK and support the nationwide development of working-class artists: www.commontheatre.co.uk

Commom Ground is their inaugural initiative delivered with support from leading theatres across the country, and is an inclusive, supportive discussion exclusively aimed at artists who self-identify as working-class.

This Common Ground event on 24th July 2018 at the Alphabetti Threatre will offer a platform for working-class artists living/working in Newcastle and the surrounding areas to share the barriers to career progression that they face when building careers in theatre in this region, and provide an opportunity for artists to offer suggestions of initiatives and opportunities which could be created to help overcome them.

The aim of this event is to offer participants the opportunity to contribute to the dialogue between Alphabetti Theatre, Live Theatre, Northern Stage and Common about how to effectively support working-class artists in this region.

*Tickets must be collected fifteen minutes prior to the start of the event. Should tickets not be collected, they will be released and reassigned to artist’s present at the venue prior to the event. Any returned tickets will be available to book in person from Alphabetti Theatre on the evening of this event.
