YOGALILLIES

As a studio, YogaLillies really goes the extra mile in creating an indulgent atmosphere that can’t help but relax even the most stressed out yoga lover! We love teacher Lissa’s extra touches of aromatherapy oils and complimentary refreshments, and her range of classes is just as impressive. With bridal and baby shower yoga parties offered alongside the usual beginners and intermediate level classes, YogaLillies gives you the chance to truly treat yourself.

HAPPY YOGA

There’s something about Newcastle yogi Jo Hutton’s soothing approach to yoga that is instantly relaxing. Stepping into her softly lit space, it’s easy to forget you’re in the heart of the city, and it won’t be long before you’re transported to a world where cat curls and downward facing dogs gently push those everyday worries out of your mind. Jo offers a stunning range of classes, including ones suitable for mums to be and new parents, but our favourite is the Beginner’s Class. Peaceful and casual, it’s everything a yoga novice could ask for and more.

Beginner’s Yoga, Mondays and Tuesdays at 5.45pm

The centrally located studio offers the classic practice Ashtanga yoga, which provides an energetic and dynamic workout to really get your blood pumping as you engage your mind and body. Absolutely perfect for those with a grasp of the basics who are eager to develop their posture, breathing and cardio-vascular fitness, the class is certainly worth heading to Dance City for. Grab a pair of leggings and get into the flow!

PUREJIVA

Another of our favourite of Newcastle’s independent yoga studios, Karen, the brains behind PureJiva, offers all the usual classes as well as popular specialist classes including hot yoga. Her Vinyasa class is simply calling your name if you’re looking for a chilled out class to really fpcus on your breathing and balance. We love that her Saturday classes are held in the morning, perfect for early birds looking to get refreshed for the weekend. So get prepare yourself for a sun salute or two and head down to the light and airy Pilgrim Street studio. You won’t be disappointed!
