Last updated:

Newcastle Pride is celebrating its 10th birthday this year in what is set to be a stunning celebration of LGBQT+ life and culture. The weekend is chock-a-block with feel-good activities, as well as the iconic Newcastle Pride march through the city. As if that’s not enough, the star-studded weekend is hosting countless music acts, from tribute bands to celebs, as well as our favourite reformed 90s bands. NE1 are proud to sponsor such a bold, bustling event, and we just can’t wait for the weekend to roll around! Here’s our guide to who’s playing at Pride this year…

WHEN?  22/08/17

CHANNY THOMPSON

Geordie lass Channy is taking to the stage in her hometown on Saturday and singing a collection of hits in honour of Pride. A star on the rise, Channy has performed at none other than the Metro Radio Arena in the past, and is sure to add a bit of stardust to Newcastle Pride.

DRAGON & THE WHALE

This fierce duo beat off competition to triumph in Boulevard’s Drag Idol, and they’re ready to steal that spotlight yet again with a Saturday night performance at Pride. These two really do have star talent and it would be a crime to miss out on their night in The Town Moor spotlight!

NORTHERN PROUD VOICES

Newcastle’s first LGBT choir are sure to give you goosebumps with their renditions of the classics. A community choir which has gone from strength to strength in recent years, they’re visiting Pride ahead of a much-anticipated Manchester gig.

Angie Brown brings her talent to Newcastle’s main stage. Having performed backing vocals for some of the biggest bands and artists around including The Stereophonics and Kate Bush, as well as appearing in her own group, Thrashing Doves, Angie’s sure to teach the young’uns a thing or two.

KELLY WILDE

Kelly’s travelled the world as a successful singer, but we reckon she’s in for a treat coming to our beautiful city this summer. This legend is originally from 'Down Under' but we’ll certainly make a Geordie of her!
