COMICS: EXPLORE AND CREATE COMIC ART

UNTIL 7 JULY

Is sitting back with a comic and a cup of tea your favourite pastime? Do you love the Beano? Make it happen this Easter at Seven Stories as the National Centre for Children’s Books invites you to create your own comic at the Comics: Explore and Create Comic Art exhibition. You’ll find an electric mix of savvy superheroes and a cool collection of storyboards, sketches and 3D models prepared by comic creators Kate Brown, Laura Ellen Anderson and Jamie Smart. Expect to see Dennis the Menace, Desperate Dan and fine old friends like Minnie the Minx, Roy of the Rovers and Oor Wullie.

NIGHT MARKET: LOCAL SPRING CELEBRATION

6 APRIL

Make the most of the Easter holidays and round up the whole family for a fun-filled foodie event at Kommunity, Newcastle. Celebrating the start of spring and all the good stuff that comes with it, families can enjoy the street food delights from Wildflower Creative Kitchen. Little ones are welcome until 9pm with an uber cool Kids Zone with a corner for crafts, reading and squishy beanbags for chill-out time! Peter Rabbit is having a moment. We’re seeing him all over cinema screens and we just can’t get enough of the mischievous bunny this Easter! Join the team at the Crowne Plaza on Saturday 7th April for a terrific Peter Rabbit Tea Party for all the family to enjoy. A sumptuous afternoon tea will be served alongside music and party games with prizes to be won! Little ones will go off on a treasure hunt and will have the chance to get crafty with fun, hands-on activities throughout the day. Easter holidays at the Life Science Centre

NAKED EYE ASTRONOMY

Home to the North’s biggest and best planetarium, the Life Science Centre is a great place to hang out with the whole family – perfect for a rainy day. Visitors can scoop through the solar system, experiencing the most immersive journeys through space along the way. From the comfort of your own seat, you’ll get the chance to zoom through space, landing on planets and finding out all you need to know about life in outer space. The Planetarium offers a marvellous mix of shows and animated films. Prepare to be wowed!

DINO JAWS

It’s your last chance to catch the larger-than-life Dino Jaws exhibition. You’ll step back in time to a wonderful world where dinosaurs took charge. From the notorious, flesh-eating habits of the T.Rex, to the vegetarian tastes of the Iguanodon, you’ll get up close and personal and you’ll see it all here. Find out all you need to know about fossils with hands-on exhibits and fascinating, virtual fossil digging experiences. It’s an exhibition the whole family will enjoy this Easter – you’re bound to come away with some brand new dinosaur knowledge.

CHOCOLATE WORKSHOPS

It’s the Easter holidays and chocolate springs to mind! Get your fix at the Life Science Centre’s scrummy Chocolate Workshops. You’ll get to test your taste buds and discover the science behind why we all love chocolate! Workshops will run throughout the Easter school holidays and are included in the Science Centre ticket price. An indulgent and educational treat for all the senses!

Pop along to the scrumptious eat-a-long screening of Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory where your movie-going experience will become even more delicious. Pick up homemade sweets to be enjoyed at special moments during the screening. You’ll be given your very own ‘box of treats’ on arrival - look out for cues during the film that will tempt you to open each mystery box in turn for a new treat!
