Hack Your NE1 Weekend | 1 - 2 December 2018

Follow our trail and make the most of our marvellous city this weekend! Here's what you've got to look forward to as we step into December...

Santa searching...

Take the tots to town for the ultimate Christmas treat this Saturday! Meet at the Civic Centre for the start of the Search for Santa Trail - taking families on a tour of the city to help find Father Christmas - with lots of goodies along the way!

Wrap it up

Get crafty at Laing Art Gallery as you make your own personalised festive wrapping paper and gift tags. Materials will be provided, so just come along and get into the festive spirit. Printing can be messy – so don’t wear your best clothes!

A Dickens date

Charles Dickens' classic story of ghosts, greed and goodwill is given boisterous new life in this thrilling production of A Christmas Carol. Gather the whole family and head to Northern Stage to see Scrooge’s festive adventure unravel!

Tribe tunes

See British electronic music duo, Chase & Status, show off their stuff live at Digital. The hit-makers will be performing numbers from their latest album, Tribe, as well as other chart-topping tunes, such as Love Me More and Count On Me.

Rip-roaring show

Following an intimate and rip-roaring tour with his explosive new band earlier this year, Miles Kane will be back on stage this winter, following the release of his first solo record in five years, Coup De Grace. Catch him at O2 Academy.

Sip & celebrate

Make Livello your cocktail spot this Saturday. Get dressed up, dance and sip the good stuff - everything from rhubarb gin cocktails, to classic Cosmos and orange espresso martinis!

Boxing & burgers

See UK boxing champ 'Tyson Fury' take on American WBC champion, Deontay Wilder, at Shark Club Sports Bar & Grill in a clash for the World Heavyweight Championship! Nab a booth and watch the action unfold while tucking in to chicken wings, nachos and burgers!

Brekkie bites

Kick-start your weekend with something warm and comforting at Quay Ingredient. Enjoy eggs and soldiers, traditional fry-ups, Craster kippers, freshly-baked pastries or scrambled eggs with truffle and jam on brioche. Go on - treat yourself!

See Santa!

See Santa at The Quayside Wetherspoon this Sunday from 12pm - 3pm. For just £2, little ones will get to meet the man himself and will get to take a small gift home to pop under the tree! Tombola and raffle prizes will also be available throughout the day.

Buddy up

Take little ones to Seven Stories to see family festive favourite, Elf! Snuggle up in the magical attic to enjoy the adventures of Buddy, a man raised as an elf at the North Pole, who travels to New York City in search of his true identity.

Classic carols

Don’t miss CLIC Sargent’s Christmas Carol Concert at City Hall. A key fundraising event in support of the charity, which helps children and young people facing cancer, it promises an uplifting afternoon of festive feel-good songs.

Seasonal screening

It’s not Christmas without a trip to Tyneside Cinema to see everyone’s favourite festive tear-jerker, It’s A Wonderful Life, telling the tale of frustrated business man, George Bailey. His life seems hopeless until a loveable angel, Clarence, arrives on Earth to show him just how much life is worth living. Tissues at the ready!

Christmas cheer!

Lose yourself in the smells and tasty delights of Christmas at Newcastle’s brand new Christmas Village in Times Square. Enjoy festive bites from traditional German street food huts, washed down with beer, mulled wine and hot cider!

Lots of laughs

On the back of his last sell-out show, Psychopomp, John Whale returns to The Stand with an uplifting and hilarious perspective on life, love, laughter. Settle in and get the giggles!

70s party!

See Midland perform live at Boiler Shop this weekend. The musical trio embody 70s California country like no other, with smooth harmonies and heart-on-your-sleeve lyrics. The perfect Sunday soundtrack!
