Wrap it up
Get crafty at Laing Art Gallery as you make your own personalised festive wrapping paper and gift tags. Materials will be provided, so just come along and get into the festive spirit. Printing can be messy – so don’t wear your best clothes!
A Dickens date
Charles Dickens' classic story of ghosts, greed and goodwill is given boisterous new life in this thrilling production of A Christmas Carol. Gather the whole family and head to Northern Stage to see Scrooge’s festive adventure unravel!
See British electronic music duo, Chase & Status, show off their stuff live at Digital. The hit-makers will be performing numbers from their latest album, Tribe, as well as other chart-topping tunes, such as Love Me More and Count On Me.
Following an intimate and rip-roaring tour with his explosive new band earlier this year, Miles Kane will be back on stage this winter, following the release of his first solo record in five years, Coup De Grace. Catch him at O2 Academy.
Sip & celebrate
Make Livello your cocktail spot this Saturday. Get dressed up, dance and sip the good stuff - everything from rhubarb gin cocktails, to classic Cosmos and orange espresso martinis!
Boxing & burgers
See UK boxing champ 'Tyson Fury' take on American WBC champion, Deontay Wilder, at Shark Club Sports Bar & Grill in a clash for the World Heavyweight Championship! Nab a booth and watch the action unfold while tucking in to chicken wings, nachos and burgers!
SUNDAY 2 DECEMBER
Kick-start your weekend with something warm and comforting at Quay Ingredient. Enjoy eggs and soldiers, traditional fry-ups, Craster kippers, freshly-baked pastries or scrambled eggs with truffle and jam on brioche. Go on - treat yourself!
See Santa at The Quayside Wetherspoon this Sunday from 12pm - 3pm. For just £2, little ones will get to meet the man himself and will get to take a small gift home to pop under the tree! Tombola and raffle prizes will also be available throughout the day.
Take little ones to Seven Stories to see family festive favourite, Elf! Snuggle up in the magical attic to enjoy the adventures of Buddy, a man raised as an elf at the North Pole, who travels to New York City in search of his true identity.
Don’t miss CLIC Sargent’s Christmas Carol Concert at City Hall. A key fundraising event in support of the charity, which helps children and young people facing cancer, it promises an uplifting afternoon of festive feel-good songs.
It’s not Christmas without a trip to Tyneside Cinema to see everyone’s favourite festive tear-jerker, It’s A Wonderful Life, telling the tale of frustrated business man, George Bailey.
