NE1'S SCREEN ON THE GREEN

NE1's Screen on the Green continues to steel the show this August when it comes to open-air summer screenings in the city! Get down to Old Eldon Square this month to catch some fabulous flicks. Unpack your picnic and pull up a deckchair as you unwind for some mega movie moments in Newcastle! August screenings include: Hairspray (8 August, 6pm), Free Willy (23 August, 6pm), Moana (24 Augsut, 12pm) and Mary Poppins (30 August, 12pm) to name but a few.

MASSAOKE: GREASE VS DIRTY DANCING

Friday 10 August

It's time to dress up and dance to throwback tunes as Massaoke: Grease vs Dirty Dancing comes to Newcastle's O2 Academy. To mark the 40th anniversary of Grease and 30th anniversary for Dirty Dancing, join a very special sing-a-long party packed with your favourite songs from two of the biggest musical movies of all time. Celebrate South Asian culture at Newcastle's vibrant Mela festival this August bank holiday! People from far and wide will gather to eat, be entertained, dance and get their culture fix. To mark the Mela's 25th anniversary, a carnival of colour, drumming and costumes will take to the Toon on Sunday 26 August, winding its way from Blackett Street up through Northumberland Street and on to Exhibition Park.
