5 Of The Best Dog-Friendly Pubs in Newcastle

Last updated:

Treat your four-legged-friend to a poochy pub crawl in Newcastle.

Newcastle is famous for being a family-friendly place to be - and that goes for our furry friends too! Our pets are valued customers in the city centre, with some spots even serving dog-friendly menu and drinks (non-alcoholic, of course)!

Below, you can find a pooch-friendly guide to pubs in NE1...

CITY TAVERN

The award-winning City Tavern, just off Northumberland Street, has three dog residents - Alfie, Hector and Dillion, who welcome every human and fellow dogs at the door, each day.

The pub has an extensive ‘gourmet ‘ dog treat menu with scrummy snacks for pooches to get their chops around. Human foodies can enjoy a gorgeous gastro-pub menu, offering an impressive vegetarian menu too, which now includes battered halloumi and chips.

BRIDGE TAVERN

The bar maybe hidden under the Tyne Bridge, but it is no secret that the dogs of NE1 love it in here! This pub is the perfect place for your pooch to put their paws up and relax by the Quayside. The pub has recently released Alfie Blonde, a brand new pooch-inspired ale for humans, created by Wylam Brewery.

It may look small, but it has many features that make it one of the ‘top dog’ pubs in the city. The Bridge Tavern have a sunny terrence and its very own micro brewery. Dogs and their well-behaved owners are welcome until 7pm.

THE CLUNY

It might be one of our favourite music venues in the city, but The Cluny is also a hound-friendly hideaway where humans and pooches alike can relax, unwind and enjoy fab food with delicious drinks. As an multi-use venue, it's a long-running live music venue by night but is an exciting bar and lounge by day, serving a yummy food menu until 9pm, plus brunch on Sundays.

LOLA JEANS

This little gem on Market Street is a real home from home when it comes to drinking and dining in the city centre - and that's why our pooches love to hangout here!

Lola Jeans likes to stand out and make a few twists on classic food and drinks, but they always make sure the taste and experience is at the top of its game.

During the day it's a relaxed environment, with the vibe vamping up as day turns to night. But when it comes to lunching in the city centre, this is a cool and quirky spot to pop in with your pooch.

DAT BAR

dAt bAr is the place to be for beer! With 20 taps behind the bar and rotating over 50 ales, we can't think of a better place to go for a pint of the good stuff. What's more? They also serve quality food, mainly based around greta burgers and their famous sourdough pizzas. Dogs and their owners can enjoy this arty setting with an Italian twist.
